We are expressive creatures who's motivation is to be heard, primarily with our voice.  Imagine for a moment, if this main mode of communication was taken from you.  Would you communicate through sign language, or merely writing out sentences on a piece of paper?  Let me take this a step further by adding almost complete paralysis into the mix...then what?  You are unable to move your hands for sign language, nor do you have the ability to write.  How would you be heard then?  Imagine having a leg cramp that gives you substantial pain and moving your leg will alleviate the pain, but you cannot move it on your own.  How do you tell someone?

Here is an example of a basic spelling board.  A standard size piece of paper that lays in front of you.  You have to point to letters to form words.  You are right handed, but cannot move your right arm.  You have minimal movement in your left hand, just enough to point to one letter at a time.  Take a moment and spell out, "move my leg" and time yourself to see how long it takes... 30 seconds, a minute?   You could probably reduce the time it takes by increasing your speed, right?  Now, try doing it in slow motion. It takes a bit of time just to spell out such a small phrase.  Now, let's hope the person you're trying to spell with has a great memory and can keep up with you.  A pen and paper is quite useful in this instance.

This is just one example of an adjustment to daily life my sister, Allyson, has had to make since suffering her massive stroke.  Unfortunately, stem cell treatment in the United States is still in the distant future.  If Allyson was able to regain just her ability to speak again, her quality of life could improve drastically.  In order for this dream to become reality, Allyson has to travel outside the United States to receive such treatment.  Allyson is a simple person who, like everyone else, tries to live her life on her terms without asking help from anyone.  She needs your help now.

As we take time making adjustments and changes to this ongoing fundraiser, we ask for your patience and support.  Please help me, help my sister.  Maybe in the process, we can also help other stroke victims who, like Allyson, have had their normal way of life, all but taken from them.  Thank you!

Mr. Crazy J's Blog 12-10-09

Ok, so it seemed we had some website/broadcasting issues on Tuesday night.  I've been kicking myself in the ass, thinking I did something wrong...as it turns out, I didn't!  We finally figured out that the website kept crashing due to the amount of traffic it was receiving at one time.  Normally, a website can sustain heavy traffic, but Tuesday night was the first time this site experienced such large numbers at one time...so, we say thank you to everyone, especially me!  Now I can have peace of mind.  If you experience any problems this Tuesday, keep trying, we'll do our best on our end!  Thanks again....

Mr. Crazy J's Blog 12-08-09

I'll make this short and sweet.  I'm still learning here, so forgive me if there are any screw ups.  I hope everyone is enjoying this dating fiasco thus far.  We're hard at work, and having a lot of fun with it.  All I can say is...feedback is a good thing, so don't be shy and tell us what you think.  Thanks.....

Ryan's Blog 11-22-09

Unfortunately, no date today.  As the clock keeps ticking, I need time to get this thing pulled together.  It's also good to take a step back and see where I stand.  With something like this, that relies completely on a source I have no control over, like an audience, you're left to question just what kind of audience is out there, if any.

It's been a tough gig, thus far.  I'm a stranger in my hometown with very little resources and very few hands to offer help.  I guess it's tough to take myself serious when no one else does.  They say it's good to be a dreamer, but there's always a price to pay for big dreams.

Happy Monday!

What a crazy day, yesterday!  It was non-stop and I'm definitely lacking sleep.  Once again, the date went better than expected, and I'm thankful for that.  So far, I've met some really great people!  I think the "change-up" was good, and with the cold and rain, brought a unique and fun idea for the date!  It's always nice to get back in touch with your youth from time to time.  My date was wonderful, and I thank her for showing me a great time, on a rather gloomy day!

I want to thank Saint's Pub and Patio for letting us be a part of their 1 Year Anniversary Party.  The best Sunday nite I've had in a long time!  It's truly amazing how the kindness of people can catch you completely off guard.  I was never expecting the response we got last nite, and for that, I am deeply touched and grateful! With such an active crowd, our original plan for a web-cast was a bust, which is just fine with me!

Thanks to everyone who came out on their Sunday nite to show their support!  Shame on you, to those who did not.......

You will never win, until you're not afraid to lose.....

Happy Friday The 13th!

I hope that today will bring me good luck, since I will once again embark on another dating adventure.  Either I'm getting old, or it's the whole production aspect of it, but I don't recall dating being so tiring!  It has been great exploring new places to eat around town.  I'd say that's a huge bonus, considering I'm a man with an appetite for food!  Maybe it's all the nervousness that wears me down by the end of the night.  Regardless, just the experience itself has been great.  If it were to end after this weekend, I'd have to say....it's been a fun ride!

I know some people have expressed their "anxiousness" for this web-cast to finally start.  All I can say is that it is a process, and does take time.  I'm nothing special, I'm just a guy amongst many, who is trying to turn a tragedy into something positive, in my own unique way.  I've been told I have talent, but the pessimist in me says, that remains to be seen.  Here's to a valiant effort.....

Date #2....

I guess it's kind of nice doing these dates, this time of year.  Since our local football team is horrific to even watch, maybe I can muster a handful of fans to root me on!  Hopefully, I'll end up with a better record than the current 1-6 Chiefs.  I thought last week was much better than expected, so I'll consider myself 1-0 with "game", or date 2 taking place this Sunday! And who knows, if I'm lucky enough to get 16 dates, then I'll have my own, little season.

I am very anxious to see what Sunday evening has in store.  I'm doing my best to put last week aside, and approach this week with a fresh mind, fresh heart, and some optimism.  Will see if Allyson can make another good "play-call".  Gooooooo Team Ryan!

Hey Cupid, are you listening...?

Allyson did good!

Last night was great!  I was nervous as hell, but it turned out to be really fun, despite the "smelly incident" that started off the night!  There never seemed to be a dull moment, or awkward silence, and we appeared to have quite a bit in common.  She was funny, quirky, spontaneous, very "sassy", and very sexy!  She definitely kept me on my toes!  I do think that my personality was overtaken by nerves, which may have been a "turn off" for her.  The whole blind date thing is new to me, and I felt like I was walking on eggshells!  I'm not holding my breath...

The restaurant was awesome!  Good food, atmosphere, crowd, staff...all was fantastic, and I owe them much thanks!  It's been awhile since I've gone out  exploring Kansas City night life, and to rediscover some of the unique places that makes KC stand out.  It's fun to enjoy what my hometown has to offer.  However, I'm no where near ready to call KC home...in my mind, this is still just a detour!

I'm anxious to see what this weekend has in store.....

Ryan's Blog 10-30-09

Dear Allyson-

Please make my date you selected for me this weekend, a good one.  Let her her be normal, fun, sane, with a lot of potential.  Just remember, we're adults now.  I've forgiven you for all the cruelty I had to endure growing up with you as my sister, and I definitely hold no grudges ("Mike Tyson's Punchout").   I know you'll make good decisions....please?

Ryan's Blog 10-23-09

I woke up extremely tired, but "stoked" as well.  During our test shoot last night, we brought in 119 viewers, which was great, considering we were just screwing around and trying to get Craig's "Booger Cam" to work!  In just a couple days we've already attracted a small cult following, and we're really excited about it!  We are preparing for tomorrow night, hustling to get last minute tasks accomplished.  It should be really interesting, and I hope you can take some time out of your Saturday Night to peak in and say hello!

We are having Free Product Sampling, so if you're interested in joining us, please RSVP for details!

Ryan's Blog 10-20-09

Yesterday was great!  With one wise purchase, I was able to knock out ALL the technical problems, and we went live twice without a hitch!  Thanks to those who joined us, it was a blast playing with all the features, and to demonstrate how interactive the live tapings can be!  We are looking forward to upcoming shoots and learning how to juggle all the gadgets, so everything can run smoothly as it did yesterday!  It is truly an inspiration to witness the amount of hits this site has generated in such a short time!  I don't think I can say it enough... thank you!

Unfortunately, Allyson's living situation has worsened, with yet another incident yesterday, which I will discuss again on Saturday, for those who were unable to catch us last night.

Take a moment, and let your loved ones know just how much you love them.  Whether it's your husband, wife, children, siblings, parents, grandparents,  friends, etc.  You just never know what life can throw at you.  I've learned this the hard way.

"It does not matter what you say about someone once they are gone, but how you treat them while they are still here."

Ryan's Blog 10-19-09

First and foremost, I owe everyone an apology!  I, once again, hit a wall of technical problems, which prevented us from doing our live shoot on Saturday night.  The site stats showed that quite a few people came to the site to watch, only to find there was nothing to watch!  Therefore, I made an investment which will solve all issues once and for all.  My new Mac Book is so pretty! With that being said, we will reschedule the live shoot for this Saturday at 9:30P CST. We will discuss the fundraiser in detail, share some last minute ideas for Halloween costumes, and talk about my banishment from my mother's house.

If we do not go on live, this Saturday, I swear, I'll cancel the fundraiser, pack up my stuff and return to LA for good!  Throughout the week, after 11:30p CST, I'll be doing live test shoots, so feel free to chime in and keep me company!

Thank you everyone!

Ryan's Blog 10-15-09

So, I'm at work and get a phone call informing me that my mother called the police and they are at the house.  Apparently, my mother has accused me of "brainwashing" Allyson, and no longer wants me around and is filing a restraining order against me to keep me from coming to see Allyson while she resides in the house.  It's very sad, but yet humorous at the same time.  My mother even had the tenacity to ask the police how to "remove" Allyson from the house!

To pay very special thanks to T & C Liquors for their generous support, we will be taping live this . The taping will be problem free (fingers crossed) and I will be discussing, in depth, this latest fiasco and will not be holding back any thoughts and feelings regarding this!  We will also be having our Halloween Fashion Show, which will be quite intriguing, and we will discuss the Fundraiser in detail, so please check us out!

Your support has meant the world to Allyson, and is truely appreciated!

Ryan's Blog 10-13-09

Last night was a great example of, "What can go wrong, will go wrong!"

The internet signal started out weak, but quickly boosted.  One of my lights broke, the audio wouldn't work, people were confused as to exactly what "firewire" is...my list can go on and on!

But, after all was said and done, it worked out!  Best Places.Net has so far proven their poll correct.  Are there no single women in KC?  If there are, maybe they're just shy, not wanting a first date to be streamed on the web.  Maybe KC is a great "singles" town if your 21.  Maybe I'm just too old and don't have those qualities women are looking for.  Maybe I should pack it up, head back to L.A. with my tail between my legs, to the city that casts away inhibitions and knows how to party, no matter what age you are!

I received an email last night from a woman in SoCal, and I quote, "Why are you doing this in Kansas, isn't it boring there?  Isn't everyone married, and don't all the bars close at 11?  You'd have no problem getting dates here!"

Hopefully I can prove them wrong!  I'll continue to tough it out in KC for now....I love a good challenge!  Come on KC gals, let's prove 'em wrong!
